Community Tree Lighting

Where: Veteran’s Triangle
Time: 5:30pm
What: Come see the lights go on in Cable at the Annual Tree Lighting! But it’s more than just a light show; there will also be cookies, hot chocolate, and caroling at the Forest Lodge Library. Goodies are donated by the Cable Cafe, the Brick House Cafe, and Velo Cafe.
Holiday Art & Craft Fair
When: Sat, Dec 7
Where: Living Hope Community Church
Time: 9am – 3pm
What: Two floors of beautiful local art and vendors of handmade goods! The perfect way to kickstart your holiday shopping and gift-giving.
Christmas Cookie Bazaar
When: Sat, Dec 7
Where: Trinity Lutheran Church
Time: 9am – 1pm
What: Cookies by the pound (!!), lefsa wraps, jam, jellies, and more.
2nd Chapter Charity Sale
When: Sat, Dec 7
Where: Cable UCC Church
When: 9am – 1pm
What: Browse a selection of gently-used items (including books, decor, linens, dishes, clothing) and fresh-cut trees at Fellowship Hall. Refreshments will be available, too. Proceeds benefit the Cable Area Food Shelf and the BRICK Ministries.
Breakfast with Santa
When: Sat, Dec 7
Where: Lakewoods Resort
When: 9:30am
What: Are you one of the boys or girls on Santa’s Good List? Then you’re invited to a special Pancake Breakfast with the man in the red suit himself! Santa arrives at 9:30am for breakfast, followed by pictures (courtesy of Lakewoods Resort) and a hayride around the resort. You can even stop by Grandma’s House for cookies and hot cocoa.
Dickens of a Christmas
When: Sat, Dec 7
Where: White Winter Winery
When: 6pm – 9pm
What: Catch Dickens’ classic play in a performance like you’ve never seen before! Local actors perform while the audience partakes in a five-course Victorian meal paired with mead, ciders, and spirits. Tickets are on sale now (and limited!), and proceeds benefit the Iron River Library.
49th Annual Snowflake Banquet
When: Sat, Dec 7
Where: Lakewoods Resort
Time: 5pm
What: Silent and live auctions, raffles, and dinner for a fun night that benefits the Namakagon Trail Groomers.
Scandinavian Holiday Dinner
When: Fri, Dec 13
Where: Lakewoods Resort
Time: 5pm
What: A special dining experience complete with authentic Scandinavian specialties and Old World recipes. Pick from the smorbrod buffet and choose an entree, like Frikkadeller meatballs, North Sea salmon, and grandma-worthy holiday favorites. You can even give Lutefisk a try!
A Lure of Lights Hayward
A Hayward tradition since 2010, A “Lure” of Lights brings activities and celebrations for all to the streets of Downtown Hayward, transforming the charming town into a “lure” of lights! Here’s what’s happening at this year’s Lure!
Ugly Sweater 5K

Where: Downtown Hayward
Time: 10am start
What: Don your most appalling sweater and take to the streets of Downtown Hayward for a friendly 5K, followed by hot cocoa and some holiday shopping. Check-in is at 9am at Outdoor Ventures to pick up your race bib and some extra goodies. Registration required for adults.
Hot Chocolate Crawl

What: Who’s got the best hot chocolate in Hayward? There’s only one way to find out… by sampling them all! No cost, no registration—just bring your taste buds to Main Street.
Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides

Where: Second Street & Main Street
Time: 12pm – 3pm
What: Hop on the sleigh and take a horse-powered ride through Downtown Hayward! This is a FREE event sponsored by Anglers Bar & Grill.
Light Your Engines! Parade
When: Sat, De 14
Where: Armory & Primary School to Main Street
Time: 5:00pm
What: Whether you’re merely watching the show or showing off your own vehicle, you won’t want to miss this parade! Downtown Hayward turns into a hubbub of lighted cars, tractors, snowmobiles, and ATVs, and there’s still time to register your favorite vehicle. Awards will be handed out to best lights, best spirit, and best overall vehicle.
Gingerbread House Contest
When: Entries due Dec 12 – 15, Judging Dec 21
Where: Hayward Mercantile Co.
What: Put your decorating skills to the test in this juried gingerbread house competition! Categories include Adult, Business, and Kids, and awards are given for both house and yard. Register now and drop off your entry between December 12 and 15th at Hayward Mercantile Co. All houses will be on display at various local businesses until noon on December 24, and awards are announced December 21.
Shue’s Pond Festivities
